Admissions

We are now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year

Enrolling a child at Our World Montessori represents a significant commitment and financial investment for the average family. At the same time, running a high quality authentic Montessori program like ours is not an inexpensive undertaking. Our families are very special people who have done their research and recognize that an investment in early childhood education truly does pay the best dividends as the majority of neurological brain development occurs before a child turns six years old.

We operate on a school calendar year from early September through mid-June and have a summer camp program in July and August as well.

We offer tuition assistance to families with more than one child enrolled at Our World and families of children completing the last year (kindergarten) of our Children's House program. We offer flexible tuition payment plans to support each family's circumstances.

Collaborating With Parents

We work closely with families during the admissions process to ensure that our school is the best match for the child, their family, and our school. We look for children and parents of diverse talents, backgrounds, experiences, and cultures who will benefit from a cooperative, nurturing environment where students are challenged to reach their full potential. Our admissions process begins with a phone call or an e-mail to speak with Head of School Diane Lanci. Diane will discuss the Our World programs, explain the Montessori educational philosophy, and answer parents’ preliminary questions.

See for Yourself

During this initial phone call or e-mail, parents may set up a visit to tour the school. During this visit, parents will spend time observing in one of our classrooms. This observation time is a wonderful opportunity to see how the Montessori teaching method can benefit your child. As an observer, you will not be interacting with the children or adults in the classroom, but instead seeing firsthand how our students interact with their peers and teachers, care for their environment, and select and complete activities during their morning work cycle. This observation is an adult-only visit. This may sound unconventional, but we have found that parents are better able to observe the classroom in its typical state if they are not caring for their own children at the same time. After observing in the classroom, parents have a chance to meet with Diane and ask any questions about the program, their observation period, or how their child might acclimate to the Montessori educational setting.

Getting to Know You

In turn, we have the opportunity to learn about the family and what parents are looking for in the education of their child(ren). At the conclusion of the visit to the school, parents will be offered an enrollment application. If the family feels the school is a good fit for their child(ren), they complete the application and submit it with a non-refundable $100 application fee. At this point, the child’s application is placed into our waiting pool for an available space. Enrollment priority is offered to families who are committed to keeping their child(ren) at Our World Montessori through the completion of their final year (kindergarten) in our Children’s House program. As an authentic Montessori school, we are unable to offer enrollment for younger siblings of children who did not complete the entire Children’s House program.

Final Steps

All potential students will visit the school and meet with one of our Head Teachers. Once we have completed re-enrollment for our current families in February, we will offer enrollment to families in our waiting pool until our classrooms are fully enrolled for the upcoming school year. Students who are not offered enrollment at that point remain in the waiting pool, and families will be contacted  should an opening become available later in the school year.
